Explainer Video Production for SaaS and Tech Products

Explainer video production is the scripting, design and animation of a short film that shows what your product does and why it matters. We make animated explainers, product demo and launch videos and motion graphics for SaaS, apps and technology products, and 3D explainers for hardware.

Explainer video production services, from script to final cut

Our explainer video production services cover the whole film: script, storyboard, design, motion graphics or 3D animation, sound and the cut-downs every channel needs. As an explainer video company and motion design studio for SaaS, fintech, AI and hardware brands, we start from your product, not from a template.

  • SaaS explainer videos

A 60 to 90 second film for your homepage and sales emails: the problem, how your software solves it and the next step, built from your real interface rather than generic stock graphics.
  • Product demo video still of a site health score of 64 with the checks behind it

    Product demo and feature videos

Short walkthroughs of a workflow or a new feature for product pages, onboarding emails and release notes, with the interface animated so every click and result reads on the first watch.
  • Launch video end frame with a product logo, a one-line promise and a get access button

    Product launch videos

A hero launch film plus 15- and 6-second cuts for Product Hunt, LinkedIn, paid social and the launch email, so one production covers the whole launch week.
  • How-it-works video still of a page inspector showing status, indexability and canonical of one URL

    Onboarding and how-it-works videos

Step-by-step films that explain a setup, an integration or a concept to new users and customers, so support answers fewer questions and more trials turn into accounts.
  • Motion graphics still of a crawl log with animated status labels and a stacked bar of findings

Motion graphics services and UI animation

Kinetic type, animated interface scenes, data visualisation and logo reveals for ads, events and social media, designed in your brand colours and fonts.
  • 3D explainers for hardware and devices

When the product is physical, we build it in 3D from CAD and show the inside, from assemblies and cutaways to flow, in the same film as the app or dashboard that controls it.
  • Video still of a crawl history chart where a crawl after a deploy catches new issues

    Videos for investors and crowdfunding

A short film for the pitch deck, the data room or a Kickstarter page that shows the product working before it is finished, built from prototypes, designs or CAD.
  • Short video still of a crawl graph spreading from one page into thousands of links

    Social cut-downs and ads

Vertical, square and widescreen versions with captions for viewers who watch with the sound off, cut from the master film for Reels, TikTok, LinkedIn and YouTube ads. We make the films; your marketing team runs the campaign.

Not sure which video your product needs first?

It depends on the moment: a homepage that does not convert, a launch date, a sales team that keeps explaining the same thing or an investor round. Tell us the goal and the date, and we come back with a format, a length and a plan.

Cover of the guide on architectural animation budgets and storyboards

Free guide: a 60-second film is 1,440 frames. This brief made it $19,740

Behind every logo in that row is a brief that fits in an email: what the film must do, where it plays, how long it runs. The ones that grow into shot lists get expensive fast; one composite 3D architectural animation brief came to $19,740 for a building that needed $4,600. The guide prices each line and gives you the seven storyboard decisions that control the budget.

Who orders explainer videos

Who orders explainer videos and what each team needs from them

An explainer video buyer is usually a founder, a marketing lead or an agency, and each needs the same film to do a different job. We plan the script around the decision in front of you: a launch, a sales cycle, an investor round or a product that is hard to explain.

  • Explainer video still asking which of many SEO issues a team should fix first

    SaaS founders and startups

Need a homepage film and a launch video before there is a big marketing team. We write the script with you and keep it to what the product does today.

  • Explainer video still of findings exported to CSV next to a client audit report

    B2B and product marketing teams

Need demo, feature and onboarding videos that match the brand and stay current as the product ships. We keep the project so a new scene costs a fraction of the first film.

  • Explainer video still of an AI agent asking a crawler over MCP what changed since last week

    Fintech, crypto and AI platforms

Need to make an invisible product clear and trustworthy, from wallets and payments to launchpads, agents and APIs. We explain the flow step by step, without hype or claims you cannot support.

  • 3D animation still of a valve with a transparent housing and the piston inside

    Hardware and device makers

Need one film that explains both the device and its software. We combine 3D animation of the hardware with motion graphics of the app or dashboard.

  • Cutaway render of an operating room with airflow falling from a ceiling air module over the operating table

    Medical and life science companies

Need to explain a device, a procedure or a platform to clinicians, buyers and investors. We pair accurate 3D and medical animation with clear interface scenes.

Common explainer video problems

Explainer Video Challenges We Solve

  • 01 Happened to us

The product is hard to explain in a minute

Every feature feels important, so the script turns into a list and the viewer remembers nothing.

Our fixWe pick one problem, one answer and one next step, and move the rest into demo and feature videos.

  • 02 Happened to us

Stock graphics that look like every other SaaS

Template characters and generic dashboards make the product look like a hundred others and hide what is actually yours.

Our fixWe rebuild your real interface in motion, in your brand colours and fonts, so the film can only belong to your product.

  • 03 Happened to us

    Promises the product cannot keep

A film that shows roadmap features or invented results breaks trust on the first demo call.

Our fixWe script from your documentation and show only what ships today, with demo data instead of real customer data.

  • 04 Happened to us

A video that is out of date after the next release

The interface changes, and a film edited from screen recordings has to be made again.

Our fixWe build scenes that can be edited, so a new screen, a new feature or a new length is an update, not a new production.

  • 05 Happened to us

Nobody watches with the sound on

Most viewers scroll past autoplaying video with the sound off, and a story told only by a voice-over loses them.

Our fixWe carry the story with on-screen lines, movement and sound design, and add a voice-over and captions where the channel needs them.

How explainer video production works, step by step

Every explainer we make goes through the same five steps, so you approve the story before anything is animated and changes stay cheap.

For Amplitera, a 22-second pilot set the style before the 66-second film went into production.

    350+ brands since 2016

Product, launch and animation work for brands, startups and agencies, produced by our studio in London.

  • 02

2D motion and 3D in one team

Interface motion graphics and 3D product animation come from the same studio, so a device and its app can share one film.

We animate your interface and your brand, not a template, so the film looks like your product from the first frame.

  • 04

    Only claims you can support

Got it — thank you. Expect an answer in your inbox within one business day.
What is explainer video production?

Explainer video production is the process of writing, designing and animating a short film, usually 60 to 120 seconds, that explains what a product does, which problem it solves and what to do next. It covers the script, the storyboard, the style, the animation, the sound and the versions for each channel.

What is a SaaS explainer video?

A SaaS explainer video is a short animated film that shows how a software product works and why it matters, usually placed on the homepage, in sales emails and in launch posts. The best ones show the real interface and one clear use case instead of every feature at once.

How long should an explainer video be?

For a homepage or a launch, 60 to 90 seconds is usually enough to show the problem, the answer and the next step. Product demos and onboarding videos can run longer, and social cut-downs are often 6 to 15 seconds. Our explainer for the Amplitera SEO crawler runs 66 seconds.

How much does an explainer video cost?

The cost depends on the length, the style, how much of your interface or product has to be built, the number of versions and the voice-over. We plan the work in hours of production and give every project a fixed quote for its exact scope after a short call about the goal and the deadline.

How long does it take to make an explainer video?

An animated film of up to a minute usually takes 4 to 6 weeks from a complete brief, including the script, style frames, animation, two rounds of changes on the draft and one on the final. A pilot or a single scene can be ready sooner, and launch dates are planned backwards from the deadline.

What do you need from us to start?

Access to the product or a demo, documentation or a feature list, brand colours and fonts, the main audience and the goal of the film. For physical products we also use CAD, drawings or photos. From that we write the script and the storyboard, and you approve them before animation starts.

Do you make 2D motion graphics or 3D animation?

Both. Interface explainers, product demos and launch videos are usually 2D motion graphics built from your real UI. When the product is physical, we model it in 3D from CAD and animate it, and the two styles can share one film for a device and its app. Films built from 3D models are on our 3D animation services page.

Can you add a voice-over and subtitles?

Yes, where the channel needs them. Many explainers play with the sound off, so we carry the story with on-screen text, movement and sound design first, then add a voice-over, music and captions for the homepage, YouTube or presentations. Each language version reuses the same animation.

Can the video show our interface without exposing customer data?

Yes. We rebuild the screens in motion from your product and fill them with demo data from a fictional company, so the film looks like your software without showing any real customer, account or metric. That keeps the film safe for public channels and for every market.

Can you make videos for investors, Kickstarter or a product launch?

Yes. We make pitch and data room films, crowdfunding videos and launch films with short cuts for social media, often before the product is finished, from prototypes, designs or CAD. We make the films; your team or agency runs the campaign and the paid media.

Can the explainer be updated after a new release?

Yes. Scenes are built so a changed screen, a new feature or a different length can be produced from the existing project without starting over. The same files also give vertical and square versions for social media and short cut-downs of single scenes.

Why not use an explainer video maker or an AI video generator?

A template tool or an AI generator is fine for a quick internal video. It cannot show your real interface, your exact product or a story built around your buyer, and its stock look is easy to recognise. We script, design and animate the film around your product and the claims it can support.

Do you work with agencies under their brand?

Yes. Marketing and video agencies use us for the scripting, design and animation of client explainers, under their brand and inside their client relationship. We work to the agency brief, its review process and its deadlines.

Which industries do you make explainer videos for?

Software and SaaS, fintech and payments, crypto and Web3 platforms, AI products and developer tools, and makers of hardware and medical devices with an app. For films about procedures and devices for clinicians see our medical animation page.
