Photoreal render of a townhouse street with rooftop solar panels on several homes, garages, lawns and mature trees

Solar Rendering Services for Installers, Builders and Solar Developers

Solar rendering is photorealistic imagery of solar panels on a real home, a commercial roof or a solar farm before installation. We place arrays into customers’ photos or model the site in 3D, and render street, roof and aerial views for proposals, association and planning approvals and marketing.

Solar panel renders for proposals, approvals and marketing

A homeowner signs when they can see the panels on their own roof, and an association approves when it can see the street. We place arrays into real photos or build the home in 3D, and render every view a solar project needs, from the sales proposal to the community board.

  • Render of townhouses seen from across the street with solar panels on the upper roof above the garages

    Street-level views of real homes

The array on the actual roof, seen from across the street, the way neighbours and the association will see it.
  • Close-up render along a gabled roof edge with flush-mounted solar panels on grey shingles

    Roof-line and visibility checks

Low-angle views along the roof edge that show how far the panels rise above the shingles and whether they read from the sidewalk.
  • Street photo of a townhouse garage with a photo-matched solar array added to the steep roof above it

    Photo-matched proposals

Panels composited into the customer’s own photo with the real roof plane, angle, shadows and sky reflections, so the house, trees and planting stay untouched.
  • Render of a corner townhouse with a brick bay window and a solar array on the main roof plane

Complex roofs, corners and end units

Bay windows, dormers, chimneys and hip roofs: the array laid on the clear roof plane and kept off valleys, vents and edges.
  • Close-up render of black-framed solar panels on a shingle roof above a dormer window

    Panel and mounting close-ups

Module rows, black frames, slim racking and glass reflections in detail, for spec sheets, websites and the customer who asks what it will really look like.
  • Aerial render of a row of townhouses with one solar array on each main roof plane

    Aerial views of the layout

The same layout repeated unit by unit along a row, set back from ridges and edges, so a community sees one consistent installation.
  • Top-down aerial render of townhouses with solar arrays on the roofs among trees and parking

    Top-down site and roof plans

Views from above for site plans, permit packages and portfolio pages, showing every array, roof and driveway in one image.
  • Render of two townhouses with rooftop solar panels framing a pine tree and a lawn island

Curb appeal for sales and marketing

Polished hero images of homes with solar for websites, ads, brochures and door-to-door tablets, rendered from one model in every season and light.

Any of these can be right. The set you need depends on who has to say yes.

Which views to order is a late decision. What comes first is the decision the images have to win: a signed proposal, an association approval, a planning consent or a campaign that fills the pipeline. We start there, not with a render list, and come back with a plan for what to show, to whom and in what order.

Free guide: you order 12 images, publish 4 and pay $3,700 for the rest

Look at the logos above: none of those teams orders architectural rendering by the dozen. They start from where the building will be seen and let the image count follow. In our composite of a typical order, twelve views were bought, four were published and $3,700 went on images nobody used. The guide gives you the priced order, the place-by-place sizing list and the short brief to send instead.

Who orders solar renders and what each team needs from them

The same array is read differently by a homeowner, a sales rep, an association board and a planning officer. We scope the views to the audience, and one 3D scene of the home or the site serves all of them.

Common solar rendering problems

Solar Rendering Challenges We Solve

  • 01 Happened to us

Customers cannot picture panels on their roof

A layout drawing or a satellite mock-up does not answer the homeowner’s real question: what will my house look like from the street?

Our fixWe place the array into a photo of their own home, or render the home in 3D, so the proposal shows the result, not a diagram.

  • 02 Happened to us

    Mock-ups that look fake

Panels pasted flat onto a photo, with the wrong angle, size or light, make the whole proposal look unreliable.

Our fixWe match the camera, rebuild the roof plane in 3D and render the panels with the photo’s daylight, shadows and sky reflections.

  • 03 Happened to us

The association or HOA says no

Boards and neighbours worry about how visible the panels will be, and a vague image invites more objections.

Our fixWe show the installation from the street, the paths and from above, so visibility is discussed on facts, unit by unit.

  • 04 Happened to us

Every home has a different roof

Dormers, bay windows, chimneys and hip roofs break a standard layout, and each house needs its own believable view.

Our fixOne scene per house type: the array follows the clear roof planes, and new units are new cameras, not new projects.

  • 05 Happened to us

A solar farm has to win planning and the public

Planning officers and residents need to see a ground-mount array in its landscape from fixed viewpoints, not a marketing picture.

Our fixWe build photomontages and aerial views from site photos, survey data and the layout, for planning submissions, consultations and investors.

Solar visuals by project stage

What a solar project needs from renders changes with its stage. Early views win the customer or the landowner, later ones win approvals and fill the pipeline, so we scope the set to the decision in front of you.

The 3D scene built for the first stage is reused for the next, so each new set costs less than starting over.

What is solar rendering?

Solar rendering is photorealistic imagery of solar panels on a home, a commercial roof or a solar farm before installation, made by placing a 3D array into a real photo or by modelling the site in 3D. Installers, sales teams, home builders and developers use it for proposals, association and planning approvals and marketing.

Can you add solar panels to a photo of my customer’s house?

Yes. Send a sharp photo of the house and the panel layout. We match the camera, rebuild the roof plane in 3D and render the array with the photo’s light, shadows and reflections, so only the roof changes. For a New Jersey townhouse we delivered the photo-matched view and 16 CGI views of the community in 8 hours.

What do you need to start a solar rendering project?

Photos of the home or the site from where people will see it, and the panel layout: a drawing, a screenshot or an export from your solar design software with module size and count. Drawings, a 3D model or drone shots help for new builds, commercial roofs and solar farms, but are not required.

Can the renders be used for HOA, association or permit approval?

Yes, and that is often their first job. We show the installation from the street, the garden paths and from above, at the real size and position, so boards and neighbours judge visibility on facts. Before-and-after pairs from the same camera make the change clear.

Do you make solar farm photomontages for planning?

Yes. From site photos, survey data and the array layout we produce photomontages from agreed viewpoints and aerial views of the farm in its landscape, for planning submissions, public consultations and investors. Where a landscape and visual assessment sets the method, we follow the consultant’s viewpoints and camera data.

How is a render different from the 3D view in solar design software?

Design tools such as Aurora, OpenSolar or Solargraf show a schematic roof model for engineering and quick quotes. A render shows the finished house as a photo would: real materials, trees, light and reflections. Many installers use the software for the layout and a render for the proposal, the association and marketing.

How long does solar rendering take?

A photo-matched view of one home usually takes one to two working days, depending on the photo and revisions; a full set of street, roof and aerial views takes about a week. Solar farm photomontages depend on the number of viewpoints and are planned around your submission date.

How much does solar rendering cost?

The cost depends on the number of views, whether we work from a photo or build the site in 3D, and whether aerials, photomontages or animation are included. We quote per project or by the hour after seeing the photos and the layout; send them over and you get a quote, not a price list.
