Disposable Vape 3D Product Animation: A Promo Film Built From the Manufacturer’s STEP File

A promo film for a U.S. brand of disposable oil vapes: the device rebuilt from the manufacturer’s STEP file, matched to photos of the real product and the brand guidelines, and animated with on-screen feature callouts in two colorways, as a 35-second 16:9 film and a vertical 9:16 cut.

3D rendering of intertwined transparent blue tubes with reflective surfaces against a gradient blue background.
3D rendering of wispy white smoke swirling against a dark background, illuminated from within.

Client & Market Context

A Promo Film for a Disposable Vape Brand

The client is a U.S. brand of disposable oil vapes that sells a device made by an outside manufacturer under its own name, and it needed a short promotional video for the product.

Turning a Factory File Into a Marketing Model

A manufacturer’s STEP file describes how a product is built, not how it looks. It has the exact shape and the internal parts, but not the finishes or printed graphics. The film had to answer four questions with that file and a set of photos.

Free guide: a 60-second explainer in 12 shots, and the 4 you can cut

You have just seen a machine, a device or a procedure shown rather than described. Doing the same in motion is a matter of planning shots, not polishing renders. Our composite 60-second explainer, priced shot by shot at $8,100, does all its explaining in five shots. The guide gives you the priced shot list, the input to send from engineering or medical teams and the short brief for product animation.

Got it — thank you. Expect an answer in your inbox within one business day.
Can you make a product animation from a STEP file?
Yes. A STEP file from the manufacturer gives the exact geometry of the product, so the film shows the real device rather than an approximation. We clean the file into a marketing model, add materials matched to photos of the real product and animate it.
Is a STEP file, product photos and brand guidelines enough for a promo video?
Yes, that is everything this film started from. The STEP file sets the shape, the photos set colors, finishes and printed details, and the brand guidelines set the logo, fonts and colors for on-screen text. The grey model is checked before any lighting starts.
How do you show product features in a short promo video?
With on-screen callouts timed to the shot that proves them. In this film USB-C charging appears on a close-up of the port, the flat ceramic core on an exploded view, and power-on and heat settings on the front of the device, so each claim is read and seen at the same moment.
Can one 3D model show several colorways?
Yes. Once the model and animation are approved, a new colorway is a material change, not a new film. This project was delivered in a solid teal finish and a camo pattern from the same scenes, and new colors or limited editions can be rendered the same way.
Can you deliver a vertical version for social media?
Yes. The film was delivered as a 16:9 master and a 9:16 vertical master for phones, and stills from the same scenes serve product pages and retail listings. All versions come from one 3D project, so later changes are made once and rendered in every format.
Do you make product videos for vape and e-cigarette brands?
Yes. We make 3D product animation, exploded views and stills for vape and other consumer device brands, from CAD or STEP files, photos or physical samples. Where paid ads for these products are restricted, the films work on brand sites, retailer and distributor pages, trade show screens and owned social channels.
